Market-in-Cachoeira

Shortly after the flight to Salvador Bahia we took a trip to Cachoeira. Rich with history of the sugar cane, during Brazil’s Colonial Era, it retains much of a rich African culture. I was captivated with the hustle and bustle of the Saturday Market. Only axes and knives were used in the "meat section". Horses and hitched donkeys (once a bull pulling a cart) were often the only means of transport.

In the state of Bahia, marmoset tribes are common. They have a strong sense of unity and live in trees.
My friend Margarita lives in a part of Salvador where there enough trees for them to travel from one neighborhood to the next.
Currently there is a large modern apartment being built so they have moved down the street.
