Isle-de-Sol-5 hour hike

Hello again Friends and Family,
Lake Titicaca Bolivia ---Upon leaving for Peru and Bolivia we read about the extreme elevation. Now I feel it as yesterday we took a hike across the Isle of Sol. The boat let us off at the north end and then we had 5 hours to get to the south end of the island. That would have been a normal hike if it were sea level but Lake Titicaca is at 13,500 feet above sea level. Exhausted, we climbed a ridge where the trail extended for miles. Sometimes we would reach what we thought was the top of the ridge and then it would extend like the Great Wall of China. The biggest issue was that if we took our time and rested at that altitude we might have missed the boat.
Of special interest was the Bolivian Navy practicing pushups as we departed from Copacabana. They don’t have an ocean port and have only one small boat. Aren’t they cute?
The sights were great but my lungs still feel it.
Mike
