Uyuni-Salt flats-Biggest in the world

Salar de Uyuni, and the Isla Pescado

Before any salt flat tour begins, they stop at the famous Uyuni Train Cemetery. Quite a kick to climb from one locomotive to another. Humm.. grade 3 or 4. Mikey
Being the biggest in the world, these salt flats are about the size of Belgium or 25 times the size of the Bonneville Salt Flats. In the middle are several “islands” formed by volcanic remnants. This is where we ate lunch and took a hike to the top of the tiny island. Towards Uyuni, where we stayed there is a small salt processing plant. It is here that some of the houses are made out of salt which was cut like ice blocks.
We also visited the Salt Hotel where everything is made out of salt blocks even the chairs and tables. And what is on the floor………………………………………….. Salt
